Conferring

A significant element of writers workshop is the 1:1 conferring with students.  With over five years of experience embedding the Writers Workshop model into my literacy units, I empower my students to apply their learning on a daily basis while providing direct feedback through individual conferences.  The majority of the time in a writing lesson in my classroom is focused on student-directed practice with individualized support from me.  This allows space and time to focus on building and maintaining positive relationships with each student while challenging them to persevere independently.

Writer's WORKSHOP

Students write daily, brainstorming and drafting by hand in their personal writing journals, and final publishing on computers.
